Buzz has gone downhill.
Today I just checked on Buzz for the first time, besides giving him food / water yesterday (We had a rummage sale & I was gone from 6am - 8pm. Also had no sleep, so fell asleep right when I got home, heh.)
I just took him out and it was a painful sight. He looked just fine 2 days ago. Then today he looks like h*ll.
The front of his legs as no hair, and behind his ears starting onto his face, he has no hair. I'm almost thinking he might have cushings. He also has a large scab on his back, which I know is not from the Rat, as I looked them both over greatly, and neither had anything wrong. One of my old hamsters, Nibbles, when she got sick in her old age, also had this happen to her - getting scabs. I'm not sure from what though.
I just don't get how all this could have happened in a day's time & I'm not even sure what is wrong exactly!

Re: Buzz has gone downhill.
Sorry to hear this I hope it's not cushings... I didn't think it could develop so fast but I'm not sure. What about mites/fleas etc?
Best wishes to Buzz x

Re: Buzz has gone downhill.
How old is he? Cushings symptoms normally show at about 16 months and start at the rear end and stomach, although I guess it could vary. I know Cushings is rapid but I've never heard of it occuring so fast and unexpected?
Sorry to hear this, I love Buzz. xx

Oh no! Poor Buzz. Are you going to take him to the vet or do you feel he is too old? It's horrible how quickly they can take a turn. *massive hugs* x

I don't believe so. I haven't noticed him itching at all, except for a normal amount - you know, an itch here & there. I also did not notice any bugs on him, and it's pretty easy to notice with his white fur, hehe.

He's 2 years old now. I got him in August 09' actually. I didn't think it'd happen / could happen this fast either, so cushings was kind of a guess.

To be honest, I think I'm going to wait a couple days, sadly because he is old ... so you never know, it could be his time. Then I will contact the vets.

Maybe you could contact your vet and give a brief desription, they could give a simple diagnoses and treatment options over the phone if they're nice

Yeah, my vets are nice like this . But I do happen to think I have the most wonderful vet in the world.
I really hope Buzz is ok. He is one of the most beautiful fluffsters I have ever seen, so I hope he is comfortable. I bet he is still stunning, even a little de-fluffed. Please blow him a big kiss from me, I am something of a Buzz-fangirl! I remember the first pictures you posted of him.. ahhh. Lots of love to you and the bundle of fluff. x
