How do you guys get the hammy to sit still to do it? My dwarfies nails are a little long at the moment, not massive but too long for my liking too...

Well the guy in the article lets them lick a spoon but we tend to get them up and while they are still dozy, hold the paw between thum and finger and press lightly. The nails will push out then get someone else to clip quickly. Just do one nail a day to save stress.
You can also sit them on a wire tray and let the foot drop through then clip.

one nail a day is the best way maybe two if you are lucky
good, extremely sharp, small scissors are ideal, such as the ones you get for babies

Absolutely BRILLIANT article

I had absolutely no idea what too-long nails looked like - those pictures are better than a hundred descriptions - and I now know that all of our hamsters are ok and don't need trimming just now
