Thanks heaps for this thread. A patch of Chewys hair has gone pale (most of his back), and this thread helps me know what to keep an eye on. His skin still looks fine, I suppose it's a waiting game now to see which way he goes. I suppose with his mad anatomy I would be too surprised if he got a disease that started a different way to everyone elses.. the oddball.
Thanks again though. This thread takes away some of the fear too x

Thank you for sharing the experience - it can't have been easy. Your story brought tears to my eyes. Your hamster was really beautiful, and her face remained so even when her fur fell off. Brave lil' thing.

I got very emotional writing some of it but I knew her story could help others make a quick diagnosis and help them treasure the time they have left.

Thank you, it means alot. She really was brave and beautiful. :') x

this is a very sad thread for me to read. I had a hamster a few years ago who became unwell and had to be put to sleep. She was quite young, about a year, and the vet didn't know what was wrong.

Thanks to your thread, I finally know she had cushings disease.

RIP squeak.

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully it will put your mind at rest knowing what she had and that you couldn't have done anything different for her. xx

It is reassuring to know that nothing could have been done - I hated thinking that if she had been diagnosed it might have been easily treated. I didn't have a hamster savvy vet at the time, which didn't help. Luckily I do now, he's worth his weight in gold!!!

Thank you for sharing this information! Snickers was a brave girl to battle for 4 months, and beautiful to the last day.

But you are also brave, it is not easy to write for informatively on something so personal. Snickers was lucky to have a lovely owner like you!
