Unhappy Frohike

I am really worried about my little girl. She is on baytril and painkillers for a suspected infection from the vet, and I'm syringing them in twice a day, but she doesn't seem to be eating or drinking that much and her stools, whilst still formed, are getting looser, not better. Is there anything else I can do for her? She is still as friendly and wanting to play when I get her out, so I don't think she is suffering loads, but I feel like I should be doing something else for her. She is my tiny little baby, only a few months old, and I'm terrified that if I don't get on top of this I might lose her.

What sort of infection and where about sam?
Sometimes the Baytril can make them feel worse and it does affect the digestion as it kills all the good bacteria that hamsters need to digest their food properly.
You need to get some ProC probiotic (from P@H) and try and find something she will eat like porridge or babyfood and mix this in to it. Just a pinch. Only feed a teaspoon at a time. Try offering maybe soaked hamster food, tiny bits of egg and if fact anything she might take as she must eat to get well again. Metacam can make them dozy and lethargic.
It could be that is is not an infection but something else like a tumour, kidney failure or some unseen problem that is the root cause of her illness.
I hope she rallies round soon

Thanks everyone, especially Souffle. She seems brighter today, has eaten and drunk a little over night and has been busying herself running round her cage this morning, so fingers crossed this is a good sign!

Souffle - The vet seems to think she has either a urinary tract infection or an infection in her womb. I have got some Pro-C like you suggested and given her a tiny bit on some baby porridge, which she has eaten a little of. I also sprinkled a little in her water. Randomly, I have some high-protein Calogen which I would give to Malnourished patients, I'm wondering if a little of that might be good for her? It's lactose and glucose free?
