Give her all the love you can now. If nothing can be done and she is in pain you can but give her the last great gift of love which is peaceful rest. I am thinking of you tonight and Sasha.

I spoke with the vet just now and she informed me that the antibiotics that she prescribed were the reason for the diarrhea. The antibiotics flush all of the bad stuff out and she informed to go to a health store and get either acidophillus or lacto bacillus and sprinkle it on her food and that will get all of the good stuff back in her system, I will get that for her on my way home tonight and update you all then.
Thanks for your kind words and thoughts, they are appreciated.

hello all, I am writing with bad news, Sasha passed away this morning at the vets office . Her jaw became extremely stiff this morning and we could not get any fluids into her, we rushed her to the vet and a short while later she passed away. I thank everyone for your kind thoughts and tips on how to get her better, unfortunately God felt that it was her time to be with him . My daughter is unaware of her death due to her leaving for camping for the holiday weekend, I will inform her on Monday when she returns of Sasha passing away. I did inform her that she may not make it through the weekend and she did hug and kiss her before she left "just incase" so hopefully she will not take it that hard when she returns.
Again, thank you all for your info, we did the best that we could in the short time that we had her with us.
~Carrie~

Oh i am so sorry Carrie Reading all of your posts you done everything you could to help Sasha and for that i'm sure she is grateful. She will be playing at Rainbow Bridge as we speak and she is no longer in pain. I hope your daughter is ok and at least you will be there to comfort her.
R.I.P. Sasha run free in Rainbow Bridge

Sorry to hear what happened despite all your efforts. Hamsters can be fragile creatures it seems, once they fall ill it can be hard to bring them back, at lest that what I have generally seen on forums on a case to case basis.
At least you can feel good knowing you did all you could. Do you think you will be getting another? It would be nice to see ya around hamster central still! *many hugs*

I am not sure about another hamster, that will be up to my daughter, I love the little critters, if she falls in love with another one when we go to the pet store, then most likely!! When she found Sasha we were not looking for a hamster, it just so happened that Lauren (my little girl) went up to the cage and Sasha ran up to the glass and put her hands where Lauren's were and then followed her wherever she moved... to make a long story short Laurie fell in love and we bought dear sweet Sasha Bear!! She was such a beautiful little girl, both inside and out, I am not happy with the outcome of Sasha's death, but at least she is at peace now and no longer in pain, we did try everything that we could, it makes it a bit easier, but it is never easy losing a friend, Lauren spent a lot of time with her and it is not going to be easy telling her she is gone, but I am proud of my little girl though, before she left for camping she told me that if the vet says there is nothing that can be done for Sasha then she felt that it was best to put her down so she would no longer be in any pain!! Wow, my 8-year old baby saying something so grown up and making that decision based on her pet's well being and not thinking of her own pain that she would be in, that makes me proud of her so much!! thank you all again for helping us through this, Laurie read all of the responses and helped with some of the replies.

That`s sad news Carrie, I`m sorry you lost her. Small rodents have weak immune systems and when they go down with something, it`s not easy to get them well again. You tried so hard.
Rest in peace wee one. x

So sorry about poor Sasha. I know how your daughter feels as my hamster Runty passed away when I was on a school trip. He waited long enough to say goodbye to me though. R.I.P little one

Deeply sorry about your loss. I know only too well the feelings. These little ones work their way so deeply into our hearts and their loss is hard to bear. You did all you could and I know she felt your love in her passing. R.I.P Little Sasha and be renewed at the bridge.
