Default Can my hamster really see me?

Whenever I pick Hammis up, he looks straight at me, can he see me or is it smells. I don't know please help

Like all mammals, hamsters can see, though their vision is fairly poor and they only see in shades of grey, not colour. That's why you must be very careful when letting your hamster walk near edges of tables, furniture etc., in case they fall over the edge and hurt themselves.

Great question - although he may not be able to distinguish your actual features when looking at you, hamsters can see shadowy movement, but their acute smell and hearing more than make up for their poor eyesight. I am sure Hamis smells you - though I am sure you don't smell

so hammies can just about see a big black blob and must be looking and thinking "who is this great big monster"!

Kind of yes, although they can also smell you and they learn to associate your smell with... oh here is that big black blob with the food, or the big black blob is coming to let me out to play...
