Normally when an elderly hamster is nearing time to wander over the Rainbow Bridge they slow down to such an extent they no longer come out except for the necessaries - a drink, and occassionally the toilet. They loose interest in food completely though, even things which were once favourite treats. You often find their teeth overgrow which can contribute to eating problems. Mr Fudge sounds too active to be close to going anytime very soon, but you should prepare for the inevitable and give him as many cuddles as he can possibly bear
. Whether he eats them or not I would continue to provide treats, but maybe vary them for some new choices such as soya milky porridge, cooked chicken and pasta, kitten food (moistened dry kibble), or a scrummy almond or two.
