It always cracks me up to watch a Robo legging it. Their little back legs are so far apart. Like a lowered car, built for speed. I never thought about it until you pointed it out.

I was worried he might get squashed if I tried to pull the fridge out without seeing where he was. You learn! Blocked areas off after that.

He is really adorable and looks quite perky and confident in the photos. He does look like a baby to me too .
I hamster proofed my room when I got Niko. There's also only 1 plug socket which is easy to access so I can quickly turn it off if needed.

I had some correx left over from the pigs cage so I carefully pushed him out with that and had a nice dark box and towel on the other end. Just patience really lol.

Ah what a nightmare! I'd be too scared to move the fridge even if I could see them. If only they knew how much their stunts worried us.

Today I did another 'taming' session with Ares. This time I was a little more prepared, I had a deep storage tub with some bedding, his wheel and a few tunnels. He did very well. No issues with walking over and around my hand. Not quite there yet with him taking food off me but he came really close.

Here's his cage currently. I will be getting a few sprays to add here and there. He's got a water bowl tucked in the corner and a whimzee which he loves. He's got about 8" worth of bedding. Was thinking of a multi-chamber hide but he does like to make his own nest on the left side of the cage and I'd like to encourage this natural behaviour. Is there anything else I could add?

He's so tiny and cute! Lovely that he takes a seed from you. He seems quite confident. Cage looks good. I always have a platform/shelf. Robos seem to like running up a ladder to a shelf. I have the sandbath on the shelf to support the weight. And the food bowl on the shelf. Sometimes filling the floor with toys and tunnels is good with robos too - like an obstacle course. They seem to like being undercover a lot and can move around the cage feeling secure. But maybe that's not necessary if he seems quite confident.

Our first robo also had his natural nest at first - he built a mountain of paper over it with a hole in top and would go down the hole to his nest. But - when I gave him a labyrinth house, he moved in straight away - and even used the litter tray in there. He seemed to really love it. He also had a second, natural nest near his wheel. This worked well as I'd clean one side of his cage and he'd move to his other nest. Then when I got round to cleaning the other side of the cage he'd move back to his lab house.

They can have the best of both worlds . With a multichamber house it would fill up some of the floorspace anyway so then the other items might be more bunched together anyway.

Glad the session went ok today

Comet sleeps all over the place, under his platform which his wheel is on, his storm trooper hide, his rodipet ceramic round hide, and his little wooden hide that has 2 sections bought from honey 3 paw hides on instagram. You could try him with a little box and put a cardboard divider in it and see if he uses it?
I like my honey 3 paw hide as I put some of his food up on there in a dish
All I would suggest is to fill it in more, It took me a while to learn that with robos, and the more i have crammed in with Comet, the more his little personality and behaviour opened up. What about some boredom breakers like pine cones, Comet gets right into his looking for treats.
Like Serendipity says, if you did get a multichamber hide, then all the other stuff would be more squashed together anyway.

Amazing how you manage to get photos like the first one so early on.

Robos love a cork log and popping in and out of a wooden log with holes.

I also add a platform with a ramp leading up to it to create a level.

I always worry it'll be too cramped. A lot of Nikos wooden hides got demolished by the gerbils so I'll have to buy all new. I've been trying to find the big birch log that Niko had, think it was by the brand ancol but can't find it anywhere and the pet shop I got it from no longer sells them. Is there a shelf you'd recommend? Zoozone 2 is only about 30cm high so it can't be too tall.

I was going to make a multi chamber out of cardboard. I've got a large box ready so will probably put one together tomorrow. No doubt he'll love it.

For wooden versions, I tried one by Trixie (which Mania destroyed so would need a new one) which was great but I'd need to add stilts, any ideas on how to do that?

He's too curious for his own good Now that was something I never got round to getting Niko. Do they still sell cork logs on zooplus, I've noticed the selection has not been so good? Quality wise are they ok?

Definitely need a shelf of some sort, problem is the zoozone isn't as tall as other cages so a lot of the shelves are reaching the top of the lid. If I need to I'd make one but my DIY skills are very poor.
