Talking London uk vet needed

Hi
I am looking for a vet in West London, UK, that would trim my hamster nails (dwarf not used to being held). Seems impossible. Can anyone help?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I know of All Creatures vets in Battersea and many Goodard vets see hamsters. You could always call vets near you to ask if any have experience in cutting nails? You may not need an exotic vet just to cut nails.

There is an exotic vet in Twickenham (CJ Hall) but for nail trimming it's worth calling round your local vets first to see if it's something they can do.

May also be a good idea to invest in a wheel that can help keep nails down, or putting rocks in the enclosure so they can keep it down naturally.

Hi
I have obviously called dozens and dozens of vets before messaging but thank you. I will try these 2 as well.

Hi,
I have already called dozens and dozens of vets. They don't take hamsters or don't do nails.

Hi
No wheels can 'keep nails down'. Already using best wheels etc. FYI I am not using sand paper, this is seriously bad for your hamsters foot pads. I am looking for a vet.

I think C J Smith is the one Coco used and found to be a really good exotic vet. I’m sure they’d be good to register with for anything.

I wouldn’t use anything in a wheel for nail shortening as it can harm their foot pads. I have a terracotta plate under the water bottle and one of the Rodipet rough granite skates which are great for putting under food bowls or water bottles and regularly keep nails roughened.

When they get older and less active though their nails do get overgrown despite this.

Hi there. Yes I have used CJ Hall for all my hamsters. They are in East Sheen and are an exotic vet specialists. They have a website so you can check them out. Also you could try phoning and finding out what the costs would be.
I recommend them highly but it depends on where you are. They are within walking distance from Mortlake train station if that helps.
