Unhappy Getting too attached to my hamster

I feel like i'm getting too attached to my hamster. She has become my emotional support and I care a lot, or maybe a little too much about her lol.

Leaving her for a long time alone worries me, because i've heard that a lot of things can go wrong. I have to leave her 2 times for around 4 days each soon for urgent business matter, and this makes me anxious because I can't leave her with animal daycare (we don't have any for hamster in our city), and I don't trust my helper since they are usually forgetful and i'm scared she'll leave the cage door open hahaha.

Sorry for my ramblings, I just need to let this out. Some reassurance would be nice though

I think it is so sweet you feel this way. I do not have a hamster right now but I was the same when I had guinea pigs. I would say you feel this way because of love and that is lovely. I understand it must be difficult for you when you are away. It is tricky if there is nobody you could leave your hamster with.

Thankyou for saying that hahaha. I was considering to leave her at my grandma's house, but one time I left it there she came back with ear mites, and they also told me they forgot to close her cage once but thankfully she didn't escape lol.

So I was thinking maybe she would be more content and safe being alone at my house.

I don't think it's possible to get too attached to a hamster. You love and care for her. She is a very lucky girl.

I know that you came here for reassurance but i wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my hamsters alone for 4 days. I'd worry far too much.
If you don't know a human you can trust and you're within a certain range, maybe you could install a camera to keep an eye on her.
Even then you'd need a human as a back up to check on her should you have reason for concern.

Yess, i hate that i have no choice but to leave her and this has been on my mind since last month. You're right, i think i will start to look for some affordable cameras to keep an eye on her, at least it would help me to calm down when i'm away hahaha. Thanks for your input!

I had another thought. Couldn't you arrange a time with your helper for a whatsapp video call by your hamster's cage? You could say that your hamster needs to hear your voice and then your helpet could feed her, check the water and wheel etc. You could watch that via whatsapp and make sure your helper remembers to close the door.
