Default Hamster Contentment Sounds or Body Language?

Hey everybody, I've just joined, and I'm getting a hamster this Saturday! I've done a lot of research, but one thing I can hardly find is how hamsters show contentment. For instance, rabbits tooth purr when they enjoy something. So from experience what sounds or signs do hamsters do to show happiness?

Hello and welcome to HC!

Once you get to know your hamster you'll be able to tell when he's happy and they soon let us know when they are not.

Every hamster has a different personality and they express themselves in different ways.

A contented hamster goes about his hamster business like foraging for food, keeping a hoard or three, making nests, running on their wheels, buildig tunnels, rolling around in the sandbath and many enjoy and ask for out of cage time.

Some like attention from humans and bond with their human and others prefer to be left alone to enjoy their own company.

When a hamster is not happy they can start to chew the bars, pace and throw tantrums, sit and sulk or become inactive, hide away a lot, appear to be nervous or scared and go off their food.
They do express themselves when annoyed by walking away or going into a hide face first. Like i said, they have their own little ways.

Most hamsters are silent and they don't usually make sounds of contentment but some do little squeaks.
Some screech when frightened or squeak and squawk when they are babies and moving into a new home.

Looking forward to meet your hamster once he or she has settled in.
