Default Dwarf Hamster Weight

Hi.
Could I please ask what is the average weight for a dwarf hamster?
Loki seems to be getting a bit 'round' and I weighed him for the first time today and he is 68g. He is 13 months old.
Is this classed as obese?!

Russian hybrids can bary a lot in weight & it’s a very individual thing, I’ve had them weigh more than that & they were fine, not overweight really, others weighed less.
As long as Loki is healthy & active & eating a good diet, not too many high fat treats I wouldn’t worry.

Thank you, that's good to know. I had read that an average is between 43 - 57g so was worried about obesity.
To be honest, I don't think he uses his wheel very often as I never hear him in it at night, but then I guess it is pretty silent!
I wonder if I may be giving him a few too many pumpkin and sunflower seeds... I roughly give him 2 or 3 daily, is this too much?

I don't know if this is too much but somebody else may know. You could give him a pinch of brown linseeds daily which is good for them and they love them. You could put them on your palm for Loki to lick them off so he thinks they're a treat. Maybe give him sunflower seeds every second day. Dwarfs vary so much in size that weight charts are only a guide. We have a dwarf who can't walk past a wheel without having a quick spin on it and another who isn't that interested in wheels. Their preferences vary as much as their sizes and weights.

Thank you, that is very reassuring to know. I will definitely start giving him a pinch of brown linseeds daily and lesson the sunflower/pumpkin seeds a little.

I'm so thankful for this site as sometimes google can just makes you worry more!

Hi.
When I first started this post, my boy Loki was 13 months old and weighed 68g. He is now nearly 2 years old and weighs 50g.
Is weight loss normal for an older dwarf or could this be a sign of illness?
This past month he has been quieter and a little more nippier than usual. It is hard to say if he is eating less as I scatter his food around and he has lots of little hoards.
I posted earlier about his scent gland looking a little red. I can't feel any lumps and bumps and it certainly doesn't look inflamed.
I wonder if he needs a trip to the vets or will this just stress my little guy out?
