I have also begun to notice that taco has been making a nest in the back left corner of the cage and in the right of the other cage taco puts all of his/her food their

Re: Helpp!!!!
Male Chinese hamsters have very obvious testicles so if you can’t see them the chances are you do have a female, do you have a photo?
Am I right in thinking you’ve had Taco for about 5 weeks now? That’s longer than the time a Chinese ham is pregnant so highly unlikely.
Maybe s/he is just growing now & putting on some weight.

Re: Helpp!!!!
I have had him for 2 weeks now. and s/he has been not going on her/his wheel, only for an hour last night. I have noticed that s/he has been sleeping a lot and has gotten really restless lately

Re: Helpp!!!!
Sorry I'm getting confused & thought you meant the one you got early in December.
If you've only had him/her for two weeks then pregnancy is a possibility, all you can do is watch & wait, give plenty of bedding & food just in case.
You can't really tell how active they are unless you're up all night & some changes in behaviour are a normal part of settling in.

Re: Helpp!!!!
That is difficult. Would it help to say that a Mother hamster can kill the babies if the cage is disturbed too soon. She can Google it. Ideally you don’t clean until the babies emerge from the nest on their own. Then the risk of then being killed is past.
It is very difficult when an adult just wants you to clean something. All I can suggest is saying Mum - I need to wait a little bit so the babies don’t get killed by the Mother as she is protecting them. But I promise I will clean when the babies come out of the nest on their own. Please read up about it with me so we know the best way to deal with this.
