Lightbulb Winter White bought from Petco, Help.

My male Winter White Dwarf Hamster named Casper, stopped running on his wheel and now he is in love with his new small cage that has a bunch of natura burrowing materials. Why do u think he has stopped running?

What size is the wheel, can he actually climb in there ok & is it spinning freely?

His cage is unfortunately not suitable for a hamster, it’s too small & he needs a larger floor space with deep substrate to burrow in, a good size house & hideouts like cork tunnels or tubes, bendy bridges, that sort of thing, he also needs a sand bath with either chinchilla sand (not dust) or childrens play sand dried out in the oven,
I think it may just be that he can hideout & feel safe in that top section of the cage & may be reluctant to venture down into the bottom area.

I don't mean to offend you and apologise in advance if i do but why on earth would you buy a tiny cage like that?

The wheel looks like an ornament and i can't see how he could even reach it or run in it.

There is a thread here called "Let's see your cages" on the Forum under Housing to give you ideas of what a hamster habitat can look like.

Speaking of the cage I'm also seeing what appears to be cotton or at least some sort of fluffy nesting material - that's extremely unsafe and should never be used with any sort of pet, definitely remove that right away for your hamster's safety.
