Question Worm in bedding?

Yesterday I was watching my boy sleep in his burrow and I saw a little worm thing, about a cm long and quite thin nearby him. I assumed it was a maggot or smthn so when he woke up I emptied that half for the bedding and changed it. I also completely removed all his food store and replaced it with new food. I look again today and there's still a worm! I can't do a full cage clean until tomorrow (which I will do) but does anyone know what it is? I included a pic but it's a lil blurry (the food in the pic is fresh, and I'll remove it this evening if he doesn't eat it)

I can’t see a lot on that photo. If it’s 1cm long it sounds like a centipede or something. Although they might be longer. Size of an earwig? Do you freeze the hamster food? Any bugs usually come from the food/eggs that hatch. Freezing it for a week stops that. Or it could be just something that crawled in the cage. We’ve had loads of earwigs and weird bugs in the house this summer and haven’t seen earwigs for donkeys years.

I would keep an eye on it. Now you’ve removed the second bug. It’s not the same one that crawled back in is it?! If you don’t see any more it’s probably just nothing. If you find any more then you’ll need to do a full cage clean. I would freeze any food for a week as well although obviously you’ll need to keep putting food out meanwhile so will need to keep some back for that.

I'm wondering if it something that was in the fresh food, I can see something leafy in there. Just a thought.

My immediate thought was the same as Luna's.

Probably something that got in with the fresh food.

It’s hard to see much but I’d agree it’s most likely something that came fresh veg.

I see it, I wash those out of our fresh broccoli sometimes, also seen them in our garden raspberries, so I guess off fresh food. I don’t think they multiply at this stage.
