Default Norman now has a lump

This evening I was playing with little Norman, my russian dwarf hybrid, and found a lump on his tummy.

It is in almost exactly the same place to the side of the scent gland and almost precisely the same size as the lump I found on Nanuk just last week.

Nanuk had surgery to have the lump removed and I was very grateful to be told it was most likely a benign fatty mass.

I am so down about this, to find lumps on two of my little ones in two weeks is awful.

I will take Norman to the vets tomorrow. He is 1 year old and sadly I think he will have to have surgery to remove it.

Oh no Vierville, I am sorry to hear this. It is hard when it seems to be one thing after the other with our little furies. Hope you can get everything sorted.

I am so sorry to hear this. You or your hamsters rather, are so unbelievably unlucky with their health. Let's hope that its a fatty tissue lump as well.

Thanks LunaTheHamster1 and Ria P. I am holding thumbs that it will be benign and that the vets can see Norman tomorrow. He is such a well behaved and mild-mannered little gentleman. I'm so sorry for him that he has to go through this.

Norman saw the vet today and she thinks it is likely a cyst. They are fully booked for surgeries until next Wednesday so I have booked him in to have it removed then, poor little chap.

Oh Vierville I am so glad you are getting him sorted, fingers crossed for the little chap next wed.
I do feel for you, I went through it when both Luna and Star were poorly and then I lost Sunny in between loosing them. I didn't realise how stressful and tiring it can all be, until I was just left with a healthy Twinkle. Hugs to help you get thru it.

Thanks so much LunaTheHamster1. Yes, our hams really are such integral parts of the family that it really is like having an ill family member. They have such unique and big personalities.

I'm also dealing with helping to adapt things and cheer up my elderly disabled mum whose health has taken a bit if a downturn and my wife is going through a bout of kidney stones so all round it has been a very worrying time.

Sorry to hear you’re going through such a difficult time right now, hopefully Norman will get through surgery ok & be back to his healthy self again soon, a cyst isn’t great news but not so bad as some other things so fingers crossed for you all goes well.
