Do introduce him/her! It would be lovely to see a photo. Does the hammy seem tame? They can have all kinds of behavioural issues while settling and many experienced owners on here who can help with any issues. Common ones are after moving - it can take them a couple of weeks to settle in a new cage so best not to clean out or move things around in the first two weeks. They’re usually happy with plenty of substrate and nesting material a good sized house to build a big cosy nest in (that‘a open underneath and sat directly in the substrate so they can bury hoards under the nest and burrow down). A shoebox house is ideal
Plain white toilet paper torn into strips is good safe nesting material- a pile of it. And they like it.
