Default Fur lose and blister

Hey desperately looking for advice, my dwarf hamster Chewbacca is 2 years 7 months, he’s lost his hair on his belly area and I have discovered a sore, I’ll try and add a pic, any advice would be appreciated greatly!

It is not uncommon for dwarf hammies this age to lose belly fur. The sore may well be his ventral scent gland which is in about the belly button position and can look like a sort of hole with yellowish discharge which is scent. The scent gland can get infected so if you are worried about this then it is best to see a vet. Try using some salt water (1 teaspoon salt in a pint of water) and a cotton ball to gently bathe it and see if that helps.

@souffle. Thank you for this information, I believe this is what it is though I didn’t know about scent gland, I have now researched the scent gland of a hamster and this information has took a lot of worry from me. I’ve tried to upload a pic but can’t see to be able to but Thank you again from Chewbacca and me in sunny scotland
