Hamster books
I've been thinking about getting some books about hamster care and i have a selection available in my country. My question is: Did anyone see them at some point or got them and could they tell me anything about the books? Ar they any good?
Here are the links:
Russian dwarf
Syrian hamster
Teddy bear hamster
Roborovski hamster
Dwarf hamster
Syrian or golden hamster
Thank you for the patience and for any reply at all

Re: Hamster books
I've been given hamster books when i got my first hamster and found them utterly useless and outdated.
I had books about Syrian and dwarf hamsters and was appalled by the photos of tiny cages and text written by so called experts advising weekly cage cleans etc.
I put the books in the recycling bin because they weren't fit to be given to the charity shops.

Re: Hamster books
I did get a book by Peter Fritzsche that looked pretty good called My Hamster (published by Barron’s). He does emphasize things like hamsters needing a large cage, need not to be stressed, having a sufficiently large-enough hamster wheel, etc. However, I am still new at this and I have always given priority to the advice on this forum, which is a compilation of a lot of wisdom from very experienced, knowledgeable and caring hamster owners. The reason I like the book is that it echoes most of what I’ve heard on this forum.

Re: Hamster books
I’m sorry, I forgot to add that I’m not familiar with the books you listed, which you did say are what you have seen available in your country, so I don’t know if my suggestion was helpful....

Re: Hamster books
The books you mentioned are something like I got when I got my first hamster 21 years ago, and even today it's still the same. The best advice you can get about any type of hamster is here at HC. All of us as owners will have made mistakes on what type of cage and size, toys, food, treats etc. Most pet shops /stores don't always give good advice when it comes to caring for your hamster. I've learnt so much over the years especially on here.

Re: Hamster books
thank you all for replys. the store that sells them is an online book store not a pet-shop. Petshops around where i live don't keep anything on advice about any animal. I will think if i will bet any. The trouble is that many of my fellow country people don't believe you when you tell them about cage size or wheel size so i was thinking that a book that can back me up with the right information is a good idea.

Re: Hamster books
There are a whole series of books called petfriendly written by Dr Anne McBride which pets at home sell. I've found that they are much more accurate than other pet books and I would recommend getting the hamster one.
