Sad news about Romy and I hope you are ok Ria.
The idea of using the cork log sounded perfect.
Have fun across the rainbow bridge little one.

Hi Ria, sorry to hear Romy was so poorly, she knew she was well cared for and loved in your hands. Run free over the rainbow bridge little Romy. Sending hugs Ria, you are amazing with all the rescue hamsters that come into your care.

Post Re: Foster hamsters

Thank you all for your kind words.

I think losing Romy was one hamster too many. I have decided to give rescuing a break and concentrate on our own hamsters. Two of them are elderly and need more help now.

I still have one rescue hamster for rehoming, Robo Finley.
Even very shy hamsters are nosy. I've just added more substrate and sand to Finley's little tank and glanced sideways because i felt watched.
And what did i see? A tiny face watching me from the door of his house. He stayed well inside the house but didn't run away when i placed things back into his tank.

I can understand your decision. I think you have made the right choice for you.

Lol, Finlay made me laugh. I love that picture of him. Robos really do adore their wheels.

I'm also known for saying one thing just to go off and do the very opposite. Still, the two old boys are taking priority at the moment. They need more care but i'm also aware that every day is a bonus.

I can be like that too. The day I heard about Orko was the day we got him. My partner was shocked at the quickness. Lol.

It can be emotionally draining to keep losing them. I can also understand you needing break. But I also think if you see one you might adopt them!

Ria, I'm so sorry I missed this. So sorry for your loss, you take such great care of your little hammies, and I know Romy led a happy life. Best wishes

Providing i have the space, chances are that i would. I also know that if i'd come across a desperate hamster who needs a place of safety, i'd find or make a space.
