I don't know yet if and when but usually it's only a matter of time before i come across an unwanted hamster living in a tiny, bare cage. I wished things were different.
When i said tough luck earlier, i meant that a boy would have to put up with the pink, lol. Not that hamsters care about colours.

Re: Foster hamsters
I realised after you meant a potential dwarf hamster. My brain fog is super bad today and I keep making mistakes. Haha I knew what you mean about the boy hamster putting up with pink.

Re: Foster hamsters
Little Lola is so cute. I thought she had a bump on her nose but it was only a bit of unruly fur.

Omg, she is way too adorable!!! Robos have the best little faces, especially the eyebrows.

Re: Foster hamsters
Robos don't seem to tame like other species in my experience but they are very easy to hold. Catching them is the problem. I can trim a Robo's nails easily and give them a health ceck whereas some of the other hamsters wriggle like mad.
I find that once i get a hold of a Robo they stay still for a while. Lola runs into her little cork log so i lift the log up and tip her onto my hand. I took her out to check her nose which turned out to be fine.

Re: Foster hamsters
ohhh I never even thought of it that way! Always thought I'd see if I would get to the point where they can climb on my hand (like my other hamsters) and if not, I would just let them be. thanks for the tip!

Re: Foster hamsters
so cute Ria, yes Comet is the same, mr zoomy hard to catch but can hold him easily,
LovehamstersOl I think robos freeze (because they are scared) when handled so easy to cut nails, do a health check etc,
Also, I found I cannot touch my robo in his cage, but I can if he's out of his cage in a travel carrier or small plastic bin, he will even walk onto my hand then.

Re: Foster hamsters
I had a foster Robo who "played dead" when i held him. He would be quite still when i checked him over and then slowly close his eyes.
They get semi used to handling when handled regurlarly but they never seem to lose their instant reaction to run away.
I was able to scoop our late Robo Monty up with my hands and had planned to work on that with our Robo Scottie but made a mistake with his set up by adding interior tubes. He loves them and often sits in one watching, eating, washing and nodding off so i can't remove them now.
Aside from their personality, i think their set up also makes a difference to how tame they become.
I know that they exist but i've never met a Robo who would come to his door and ask for out of cage time like our Syrians and Winter White dwarf do.
