Romy just came out for a drink while i sat next to her tank drinking my coffee. Last night i stroked her briefly while she sat eating which is all very promising.
In a couple of days i'll see if she'd walk into a hamster taxi for some playpen time. Could be that she feels safe in her tank and not outside of it but i won't know until i i give her the option.

Romy is so strong. I am amazed at how quickly she has settled in. She must really trust you.

After her ordeal she wasn't friendly and tried to bite which is understandable. She seems incredibly resilient. I've got a feeling that she's a friendly and sociable hamster by nature.

I don't know about trusting me but i'm the one with the mealworms and she loves those.

She was meerkating on her corklog for them when i opened the top.

They are lovely pictures! She seems a healthy weight despite her background. How cute she loves mealworms.

I'd love to know Romy's history because it's puzzling.
She looks so well and looks like a hamster who had been looked after.
Saying that, i've rescued hamsters from horrendous living conditions and they brushed up well after a bit of tlc.

I had planned to collect the chinese boy this morning but the owners aren't responding. All i can do is wait and see. It's a 3.5hr roundtrip and 11.00 was my cut off time because i'm working later today. I'm not going to whinge yet because there could be a genuine reason.

How long did she stay with the lady who rescued her? I was wondering if she stayed a while then it would explain her looking better then she should.

It is so frustrating when people do not reply. I really hope they reply soon.

She was only there overnight in a petsathome cage the lady used as a carrier for vet visits for her own hamsters. Yes, she fed her and gave her a health check. She said that the hamster was very frightened hence not friendly but took mealworms from her next day without trying to bite.

I don't think she's scared now but i'll know more once i take her out of her tank, providing she wants to come out.
I wouldn't force anything because she doesn't need a vet, her nails are fine and she's hamstering about as a healthy hamster would.

It is a relief Romy is healthy and does not need a vet. Did the lady report the muffin woman? I am not sure if that could be reported or not.

Not as far as i know. I doubt she'd know her name and i don't think it would be classed as an offence.

In situations like that the priority is the hamster. Take the hamster and run. I wouldn't risk aggrivating the person in case they change their mind and take the hamster back.
