Haha, no its a matter of a few likeminded people helping each other out to help hamsters.
One rescue operation recently involved three people. One saw the ad of a hamster in need but had no space or spare cage so told another who had space and was happy to rehome but had no spare cage or transport at the time so told me who was able to set up a cage and collect but had no space.
Person two and i met up with rescued hamster in my bin cage and hamster was successfully rehomed to person four a few days later. Happy ending for hamster and made everyone involved happy too. I saw a photo recently and didn't immediately reckognize the hamster because he looked so well and different, happily munching on broccoli with a smooth and silky coat.

Re: Foster hamsters
That sounds like when we rescued Suki and lent some cages for the other 2 which were with her. Engle spotted the ad and thought it was near me, I could help cage wise but couldn't pick up, so my friend went and got Suki and dropped off spare cages at the same time till the other 2 could go to their new home.
So many nice people in the world willing to help if they can.

Yes, a very similar situation and the same happy outcome!
It's so so rewarding to be able to be part of it.

What do you mean? Set up a hamster rescue network?
Yes please! I'd say go ahead and start a thread.
They do that on the continental forum where i am a silent member. One sees an ad and puts it on the thread and then people reply with suggestions and offers to help.
Do we need to check with a moderator to find out if showing pictures of ads is within forum rules?

Re: Foster hamsters
That does sound like a great idea.
I think this might be the relevant thread regarding posting ads Ria. Not sure if just posting photos is ok.

Re: Foster hamsters
Young black hamster Frieda, a Syrian girl, moved into the Grosvenor today.
I wonder if her presence will get noticed by glamour boy. That's Rory's nickname who aside from posing and looking good does very little.

Thanks. I stroked her while she was busy eating and her fur feels soft like velvet.
Both the boys, first Rodney and later Rory asked for out of cage time twice! I always sit on the floor and both climbed on my legs sniffing and meerkating which is not something they normally do.
Nosy Edwina wanted to sit on my hand earlier in the day to get a prime sniff of the new arrival.
