Default Hamsters less active at full moon?

This sounds like a wierd question, but the last few days my three dwarf hamsters have barely been out of their nests at all. I've been up the entire night for over a week now (body clock completely messed up with being locked down) and I usually hear them running on their wheels but there has been almost no activity the last three nights.

I put their fresh veggies out and they are gone in the morning so I know they are awake but they definitely haven't been running.

It hasn't been any colder this week than last so the only thing I can think of is that it has been full moon? Maybe some instinctive behaviour? They are kept in a spare bedroom and I close the blinds and curtains at night so I don't see how they would know it's full moon though?

I'd be interested if anyone has ever noticed similar behaviour?

I look at it as the moon is an energy thing - especially as it is linked to tides.
Also, you ask anyone that works in a hospital or psychiatric unit, crazy happenings occur when it is a full moon even if people/patients are in a room with no windows. You don't have to see things to be affected by them. The universe is full of energy and we are affected by it so much unconsciously.

For example when it is spring time, my hamsters start to wake up earlier, but how do they know to do this, my curtains are still drawn on a night, It is still dark outside, yet they wake up earlier. My living room is pretty much a constant temperature, it's not like they are living in the wild, yet soemthing still affects them. Part of this is internally inside the hamsters little brain/bodies, part of it is something they pick up externally from the outside world.

Both my hamsters have been awake during the day more and also earlier, but that might be related to what Luna said (Spring time).

As for the full moon thing.. I'm pagan and practice (white)witchcraft so the full moon is very important to me. Odd things have happened on a full moon and the moon sure has an effect on more than just the ocean. So hamsters might get affected as well. But that's just my belief!

I agree, with the above, my menstrual cycle was with the Luna cycle, in my yoga practice my balance is off with a full & new moon (without me knowing until after) I find it harder to control my ego with the full moon. I’m sure it must be the same for animals i always try to be aware of the Luna cycle and plant my veg according to it too.

Spring seems to make my hamsters more active. Dwarf Edwina started to become active during the day about a week ago demanding to be let out of her cage.

Even my Syrian Henry has asked for out of cage time four times within the last fortnight which is unheard of! He's normally quite reluctant to leave his cage. He free roams at speed and i've never seen him move so fast.

The two dwarfs sleep in odd places now. Next to their houses instead of inside them.

Only Robo Gordon hasn't changed his habits but in the others i can see a significant difference.

That is interesting because we are going into winter here so maybe it is a seasonal change in activity level.

Ria, I certainly find the week before the clocks changes my hamsters are staring to wake up earlier and more active after winter.
