Re: Hamster lockdown thread
Little Norman had a really good run around this evening, climbing all over us and the couch and exploring the cushions and blanket...he got more and more energetic as his adventures continued so we ended up takingbhim back to his cage but not before getting a few pictures of the little guy.

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
Norman is about nine months old now. He's a very gentle-natured little fellow but very full of energy too!

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
Haha! That's a funny photo of Baldrick waiting impatiently for his snack.
Are your hamsters tidy? Syrian Henry is very tidy and the other two boys like to keep their things in their places but the girl..., Edwina is like a mini tornedo. Her cage looks like there has been a sandstorm while i was away at work for a few hours. Bits of moss have been chucked around, the millet sprays have been almost flattened and look in tatters and sand everywhere with the steps leading up to the sandpit covered in it. She must have had a lot of fun causing havoc the little minx.
Here she is yesterday practising for the big event today.

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
It sounds like Edwina had a wonderful time!
That is a lovely picture of her.
My hamsters are not particularly tidy...especially Norman. Norman and Baldrick have Ferplast Favola cages and on the upper level I've put a small Ferplast house (it's just a hide really to give them somewhere to hide halfway across their respective upper levels as they have a proper bigger sized wooden house with no floor on the bottom level), anyway, I've lined the hide with torn up toilet paper. Each time I clean his cage, Norman's first action is to go into his top hide and pull an amount of the shredded toilet paper out and scatter it all over the top level. There's paper everywhere after that!
Baldrick managed to drag his millet spray into the tube that leads to his enclosed sand box. My ones tend to take all their 'treasures' (whimzees, wood chews, seed balls, walnuts) to their sand boxes. Anyway, the millet spray got stuck in the entrance but being a lazy little s*d he left it there until I tidied the cage this evening.
Nanuk is generally very tidy but every now and then he goes on a rampage and digs and kicks up his substrate which then lands all over, including far outside his cage on my desk. He's also taken to weeing in the bend in the tube that links his bottom level to the top level. This happens to overhang my desk and last week I discovered my laptop full of hamster wee.
Monty and Admiral Lord Nelson (RIP x 2) were both very neat little creatures.
I also find that Norman wees on his wheel a lot, on fact it seems to be his favourite wee spot. Baldrick gets his wheel dirty but not quite as dirty, though this could be because he runs less than Norman.

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
I wonder if it’s a girl thing?? Polo will pull stuff about and make a mess, shredding egg cartons and grass things and littering the cage with the bits, she is very good with peeing in the sand pit though.

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
I don't think it's a girl hamster thing, Monty was a girl and she was very neat and tidy.

Re: Hamster lockdown thread
So last night I once again was totally unable to sleep and heard a loud clunking sound coming from the hamster room around 02h00...Nanuk was maneuvering a whimzee through his pipes to get it from the top level of his cage to the bottom. He tried pushing it at first, then switched to pulling it, eventually giving up and leaving it there until this afternoon when I saw him take it back up to the top. Funny little guy.
