Where do you keep your hamster(s)?
I was just wondering, which room of the house/apartment do most people keep their hamsters in?
We have our four in the spare room which was meant to be a spare bedroom but is used by us only as a study.
It is a very quiet room so they don't get much disturbance at all and it gets nice late afternoon sun which is nice in winter and we've often seen our little ones reposition themselves into the sun in the late afternoons in winter to enjoy the warmth.
I'd be interested to find out where others keep their hamsters.

Re: Where do you keep your hamster(s)?
I have mine in the living room, currently just Star and her cage is on a cheap coffee table, and I can use the storage underneath to put all the hamster stuff. My other cage when I have a 2nd hamster is on top of my TV unit as I don't have a TV, and watching hamsters is way more entertaining! I hope to move and eventually use a spare room as my hamster room.

Hi LunaTheHamster1, I completely agree, watching hamsters is way better than watching TV.

Re: Where do you keep your hamster(s)?
Henry and Gordon live in the open plan kitchen/living room. I had to move my desk to be able to move Henry's Alaska, which sits on top of a coffee table, away from the window for the winter. Now i get a draft which doesn't matter as long as the hamster is warm. I'm sure that Henry likes to be near the kitchen because he knows when its an egg day and leaves his door open waiting for his bit of egg to arrive, in his egg cup.
Gordon's fish tank sits in a blocked off, draft free fire place.
Upstairs live Percy and Edwina in an orange painted room accessorized with black because it's the bike room where we keep our motorcycling gear. Henry loves sitting inside a helmet grooming when he's taking a break from free roaming. Percy's bin cage is on a table and Edwina's on top of a couple of covered Samlas i bought cheap, just in case anyone ever needs one converted. The bike room doubles as a guest room but where the guest will fit in amongst the hamsters and their playpen bin on the carpet i have yet to figure out.

Re: Where do you keep your hamster(s)?
Newt (rip) used to be in our spare bedroom which is downstairs. It had its pros and cons - it was nice and quiet but I wasn’t always there to see when he came to the cage door to want to come out so had to keep popping in and checking on him. Nugget (Robo rip) was in the living room - his cage on top of a kallax unit. Being a Robo he used to be out in his cage more often and I could see him easily at various times.
So bearing that in mind, now we have two hamsters again, I decided to have them both in the living room and bought a console table (like two shelves on legs) so I could have both cages in living room. However hamsters vary and neither of our two Syrians come out much when the tv is on - even though they’re at the other end of the room. They can be tempted out though!
A hamster room sounds a nice idea and they would get used to coming out at a certain time each day - eg get to know when you’d be there. I still prefer having them in the living room with us and set the playpen up in here.

Mine are in the old dining room. 5 guinea pigs in a c and c cage on table tops, 2 rabbits free ranging on the floor and the 2 hamsters in a cage each on table tops.

My hamster is in my bedroom too (plus my two gerbils). I love it when they are all awake and making noise, it makes the room feel so alive. Some people are bothered by wheels making noise, but my hamster's wheel makes a gentle rumbling noise that actually helps me sleep.

No, not weird at all. I sometimes sleep on the futon in the bike room when my OH is away so i can listen to the hamsters running on their wheels. I find that sound very relaxing.
