Re: Introducing The Boy (actual name pending)
If he was mine I would name him Balthasar. He has that regal teutonic look about him. But in the absence of that Milo would be a close second.

That's funny because Milo was my favourite out of the names, but I thought he looked more like a pickle.

What a cutie! I like Nacho a lot. Other names that came to mind are Olly, Ozzy, Corn and Coffee.

Thought of another name option- > Skittles, because he is a little skittish still

Re: Introducing The Boy (actual name pending)
I have a Pickle Plenty of room for more Pickles if it suits him. Our previous hamster boy names have all ended in ie - Charlie, Newtie etc - because I find them easy to call out. Two syllables are easier to call them by name anyway - eg Mi-lo. I would just choose one you like best. Keep crossing them off the short list! Or you could try saying them to him and see which one he responds to!
He looks absolutely gorgeous! And his cage looks great as well. He clearly likes his wheel! I'd still be very careful about the toys with holes in as he grows.

I try saying the names to him, that sounds like a great idea lmao. And yeah, I'm always monitoring his stuff and when he grows a bit if he can't fit through the things with holes in I'll take them out :)

Re: Introducing The Boy (actual name pending)
Interested to know what he does when you try the names . Personally I would take the two toys with the holes in within the next two weeks (maybe put a tube or tunnel in to replace so he doesn’t make a fuss!). They can grow really fast and be almost full size by 8 weeks old. When a hamster gets stuck it can be really serious as you may have to use a saw to get them out (it happened to someone on here) which is risky as well and the hamster has massive stress until they’re released. Any tubes or tunnels need to be at least 6cm in diameter as well (old Pringles tubes are good or Amazon sell the rosewood small hyacinth tunnel which is great- also has holes in but they’re plenty big enough). Unfortunately most toys sold for “hamsters” are only suitable for dwarf hamsters. Syrians do better with rat sized toys.

Re: Introducing The Boy (actual name pending)
I remember feeling utterly confused and almost terrified when my Syrian seemingly instantly outgrew an 8 inch wheel(can't remember exactly how fast, but I'm almost certain it was less than 2 weeks). They really do grow much faster than we think so we have to be prepared right from the start even with pet store hamsters - those from pet stores aren't automatically smaller, especially not in the case of a lot of pet store Syrians. We also need to keep in mind that hamsters pouch things so hole size must work for the fully stuffed pouches as well(hence why Syrians should actually have 3 inch diameter openings for toys etc if not larger - the determined maximum size of Syrian pouches, coming from German sources I believe- so even with small Syrians it is still possible that their pouches themselves could cause them to get stuck).
I can't really settle on a name myself, but I will say this - choose something that will last the hamster's lifespan and not something that seems right in the moment or you'll probably end up wanting to change it. It's fine if you do end up wanting to change a name, but I would really emphasize not rushing into this decision anyways. Sometimes a name ends up just smacking you right in the face when you least expect it, and then you get the perfect name!
