She didn't smell in the car this afternoon, I noticed it about4 hours ago but it was quite strong then. Her enclosure doesn't smell and it's not so strong now, just a bit now and again. If it's the same tomorrow night I'll get in contact with the vets to be on the safe side. Her tail does raise slightly and she kinda freezes so I'm guessing she is.

It does sound like she is possibly in heat then. If the smell lingers you could also check to see if her urine stinks too. It could be a UTI.
Sometimes I have found that when my hamsters eyes are a bit funny, they have a UTI as well, I think they must just get that general run down feeling.

That's worth knowing. Apparently the whole time she was in rescue her eye has been like it. The other is fine. It's a dry eye type thing I think. There's no smell now and she really raises her tail oh well, leave her to it I guess.

She is absolutely lovely! Good on you for giving her a stable home. She has a beautiful soft looking face.

Thank you. She is a very curious girl. Constantly at the side of the cage watching what I'm doing. I don't understand why she has been over looked. She's been in rescue since last march.
Well her first night was a typical hamster night and found her sleeping on her wheel and then on top of the substrate. Made no effort to make a nest and ignored all her hides. Completely in the open. Obviously I'm not that bad and she is feeling safe

no understanding of these things sometimes, my Sunny had been left at the rescue for 5 months and 2 adoptions had fallen through. She was a scaredy cat when I got her but so loving and became so tame, she was always watching me too, and always came running when I called her (talked rubbish to her!).

Honestly, that thought never even crossed my mind. I was just curious and looking at Ghost, its easy to understand why he came home with you.

Oh that's fine. I thought I'd throw that out there as I didn't want to give the impression that I would.
