How cute is this?!
So I've had Niko for about 2 months and he's pretty chill for a roborovski. I used to own rats and the way I tamed them while out the cage was while wearing a hoodie that I rarely wash so their scent and my scent stay on there. Way of bonding in a familiar place (also use a fleece blanket). Note this hoodie only gets worn for taming and there's no sprays on it either
Nikos been awake and I normally do handling around now 12-1am as that's his most active time. Well I've had him out for 1hr and so far he's emptied his cheek pouches and gone to sleep. Honestly the most adorable thing ever. I'm glad he trusts me with his stash while he sleeps).

Sometimes it's the small things that work the best Honestly it's my go to for taming any rodent out the cage now as I find it's effective. It's sounds ridiculous I know but if it works it works

No problem. Maybe but one thing I have noticed is that he trusts me with his hoard both in and out his cage which is nice. My last ham wasn't this tame and wasn't happy about me going near his stash (food bowl was ok) he was also quite skittish and he was a Syrian :-/
Last night he even decided to empty his pouches in my hand...not sure how I feel about that but I guess as far a hamsters go, that's very trusting as from what I understand their territory and their stash are the most important thing to them.
I'm sorry if I'm rambling but as he's only my second ham and robos have the tendency to be very skittish and timid, some scientists say basically untameable and I've managed to get him this far in a relatively short amount of time is a great feeling...I've often questioned whether he's got something mentally wrong with him as he's the complete opposite of what a robo is normally like? I don't know maybe when we first saw each other something just clicked
