Just an update, we've decided to definitely adopt and asked the hamster rescue organisation to pick one that they thought would be a good candidate - we don't expect anything from the little ham so it's not an issue if they are a biter, if they are shy, or not interactive - either way, we have been allocated a little boy of 2-3 months old. Can't wait, we should be getting him next weekend.
