So I figured that since so many of us are going to be in isolation or lockdown at home, we will probably be seeing more of our hamster friends that usual. I know this is true for me, I will not be going to work for a long time.

So I thought we could share our hamsters' antics and some photos of what they've been getting up to. I know it would cheer me up to see what everybody's hamsters have been doing.

I caught Baldrick emerging from his sand box this morning after having a good roll around in the sand, he noticed me just at the moment I took the picture and gave me this really inquisitive look.

Nanuk had just got his medicine for the morning and I managed to get his handsome side while he was staying still in my hand.

My third little one, Norman, has been out but just briefly. They are all back in their nests now, quiet as mice.

Would love to see or hear what your hamsters have all been up to?

Sorry, the top photo somehow rotated 90 degrees...

This morning my OH told me that Percy had given him a fright because he was in his foraging tub but not moving. My OH stroked him and still no response so he thought that he was dead. As a last resort he held a mealworm in front of his nose....Percy's head shot up and he gobbled up the mealworm, very much alive. He must have nodded off while foraging around his tub.

Lovely photos of Nanuk and Baldrick. I wonder what Baldrick is thinking.....

Hi folks

Gentle reminder, whilst there's no evidence of covid19 being zoonotic, please use barrier nursing techniques if you have any symptoms/have been in contact with someone who could be infected. It's not worth the risk.

I work at the hospital in the labs handling potential samples so operate on a barrier protocol for the whole house when coming and going. I'm not willing to risk people's or fur babies health.

Stay safe, stay well.

What exactly does that mean in practical terms? Is there any more we could be doing to protect ourselves?

Hi Dali’s Mum - just thinking it might be better to add that info on the other thread which has a lot about this topic - called “Take care”. I think Vierville started this one to distract us from the other one partly and to focus on sharing our hammy stories . Hope you don’t mind the suggestion.

No need to apologise! I think your suggestion is really good and could be very useful on the other thread. Linked it below. I don't have any photos to add yet - I shall have to see if I can nab some. Moo came out for a bit the other night but didn't tell me where he'd put the spoon he has hidden!

Please stay safe

It appears that Pumpkin the hamster is also self-isolating - there's no sign of her (which is not unusual for her).

I recorded this video earlier of my gerbils using a puzzle toy which I found quite funny.
The minor gerbil drama that ensued when one gerbil got two sunflower seeds and the other got none. Fortunately Daisy (the little white gerbil) didn't sulk for long and she got lots of treats to make up for it.

I am still waiting to get a photo of our two. It has been cold recently and they seem to be waiting for spring. Nice and sunny here today though. It will be lambing time starting in about 3 weeks so may have some photos to add then as well.
