You could wear gloves when lifting him out in the tube if he might bite or make you jump, so you don't drop him!

Yes the toothbrush means you can do it at arms length. It would be wonderful if he was tamed eventually - very rewarding. If he is a bit crazy he may never be really tame but should be handleable and learn to trust you a bit.
Percy sleeps way down in the substrate and not in his house which makes it more difficult to tempt him into something.
Fact is that to get him out i would need to disturb him because he now spends more time underground than in the first couple of days. Not sure that would be a good idea though.

He was still in his cave when i went to bed at 1am but awake. I saw him washing and moving around when i rustled the substrate. He wouldn't surface then but had been active during the night. No idea where he is this morning, probably under the table.

I know that its difficult to tame burrowers who don't surface that much when humans are awake and Percy is going to be a real challenge where taming is concerned.

I'm quite looking forward to see how things are going to develop though.

Heavens, Gordon is a perfect sphere indeed! And Henry looks very sweet and at the same time the dignified little fellow he is... Nice pics!

I've contracted this weird illness where I can just keep looking at photos of hamsters and go "Aaaah that's so cute", and somehow feel that everything they do (eating, sleeping, grooming, sitting) is super adorable. In reality, they're just trying to go about their lives as normal.

Must be weird for them. Like, all the Gordons of the hamster world are just sitting in a ball (going on with life as normal) and there's this huge human gushing over them. Can't imagine how creepy it would be for a huge giant to ooh and ahh over me when I'm just sitting here minding my own business. It's no wonder those Robos are such skittish creatures, I'd be too.

My phone is filled with hundreds of photos of my hamster just sitting around on various days, and I look back on them more than I care about my own selfies. Do give Gordon and Henry a pet for me (if they let you stroke them), because I really can't resist their cuteness.

10Minutes, please share some photos of your Robo. I love looking at hamster pics.

Selfies? Never entered my mind to take photos of me. Bad enough having to look in the mirror....

You have a point, maybe the reason I don't look at my own photos is because I didn't want to have nightmares.

Here are some photos of my hamster just minding her own business while I act like some crazy gushing stalker. I can't believe the amount of food she's managed to pouch in Photo 3 in her bulging cheeks, and she looked pleased as punch!

Haha! Your Robo looks very relaxed 10Minutes! Thank you for sharing the lovely photos!

How is she now? Did she recover from whatever caused her wound on her backside?

It's still very pink, but maybe that's just how healthy Robos look without fur? After all, the vet shaved the fur off the wound areas for easy access. At the very least, it certainly doesn't seem to have gotten any worse. I've given her back some of her toys to play with as she's been deprived of most of them for a while. She should be doing great as far as I can tell. Thanks for your concern!

I would love to hear more/ see more photos on your golden trio too, please do continue to share. I'm glad you have these threads for sharing about them.

Today i changed Robo Gordon's substrate in a section of his tank for the first time. He wasn't impressed either and over-reacted a bit which must be a dwarf thing but he wasn't half as nutty as Percy yesterday. I also located his peeing place by lifting the roof off one of the Ferplast houses used as supports which was a handy find.
I couldn't catch Gordon who has a habit of appearing out of nowhere so left him in the tank. I removed a quarter of the substrate and was wiping the glass at the bottom when suddenly there was a Splat!
Gordon had jumped into the cavity and was scrabbling around trying to find a way out. What possessed him to do that i do not know. Anyways, i filled up with new Kaytee C&C and Gordon went underground to catch up on sleep.

Quick tip: i was looking for something flat and natural to protect the wood under the bottle with. The rim of the terracotta saucer got in the way and turned over it didn't fit. A flat stone or small slate slab from the Aqua Centre is ideal because it doesn't have sharp edges but i'm still going to put moss around it when my next Rodipet order arrives.

My Dear Henry, Gordon and Percy.

Are you aware that Big Nose has been publishing pictures of you fellows with little added anecdotes such as a fluff ball with ears...!
Gentlemen I suggest you have words with Big Nose as she is clearly violating your privacy, I know that Big Paw puts up photos of me on the Ham Net but at least I get to see them first and can veto anything that I don't like.
Now I must dash before Big Paw finds me at the Lap Ham Top again.
Your truest friend
