Oh yes! Same type of stand too. Gordon runs so much better on the wider wheel and hardly falls off now. Used to be pad pad pad pad plonk pad pad pad pad plonk......on the Silent Spinner.

Yesterday was a bit of a revelation.
I've had Henry since March and got him as a baby so know him really well or so i thought.
In all this time he has never asked to come out of his cage.

Couple of days ago all the late hamster nights caught up with me and i was in bed at 22.30 so by 05.00 i was wide awake and came downstairs.

Henry was sitting on a tunnel by the door looking out of his cage with his paws on the door! I opened the door and he climbed out!! My Henry voluntarily left his cage! Thought i was sleep walking in a weird dream.

At 05.10 Henry was running around the bike room full of beans and enjoying himself. He even came to me when he had had enough. My grumpy, unsociable Henry acting like a normal, friendly hamster!

He is eating, drinking and pooing as normal so he is not ill, lol.

So, my advice to everyone who's hamster doesn't want to get up or come out for out of cage time: Try different times of the night or early morning.

Yay! Wee Gordon just put his front paws on my fingers to lick up linseeds. Only for a brief moment but i'm so happy that he's starting to trust me. He difinitely looks at me when i talk to him.

They do vary in personality and habits so much It sounds like Henry is definitely a morning person/hamster! On the other hand they can be very active at dusk and dawn and overnight they can want a lot of exercise which is why a good sized cage is important because they can't get out at night (unless they escape). I used to find similar with our last Hamster Charlie. He never ever wanted to come out voluntarily. Unless you came down in the middle of the night and he'd be sitting there wanting to come out.

Neither of our Syrians have been morning/breakfast Hamsters but I know some people give them a bit of breakfast because they're awake

Not sure what time you go to bed but I've generally found they start getting active after 10pm or 11pm. Although sometimes if they're feeling antisocial they will wait till you've turned the lights out.

The wheel looks like a great find!

I'm an owl but may have to change to a part time larch now.

Henry is a breakfast hamster meaning that he wants some of our breakfast.
He'll come out of his house or his nose at least, soon as he gets a whiff of porridge or boiled egg.
The other morning he came out sniffing and looking around when he heard my OH's voice.
Yes, Henry can be sociable when there's something edible in it for him.

Wonderful photo of Henry having breakfast. Just so cute!
To have Gordon put paws on you even momentarily to lick linseeds must have been a great feeling. Such trust is hard won with a robo.
