Default Are insects (ants) harmful to hamsters?

I recently found a few small ants (I think they were carpenter ants) in Alvin's cage. We live in an area where there are a ton of insects (and obviously do our best to keep them out). Seems they were attracted to the urine since they were mostly hanging out in his "corner"...obviously I cleaned out the cage and will keep an eye out for any more, but are ants harmful to hamsters if one or 2 would get in? Would he eat them? Thanks!
