Trouble with 3 robos
Hi..I've been here a few times but I'm struggling.
I have 2 girl robo girls which I had split over a year ago as there was a bully. They are 1 year 4 months old now.
At Christmas I was given a boy robo as my secret santa..Yeah go figure thanks I now have another commitment!
They all have super homes..hamster heavens..with extra pods..I drilled holes in the heavens to attach extra cages
So...homes for all are huge!! Take up half my room
They take 3 hours to clean..2 bottles per cage..loads of toys...2 beds at least each...I'm exhausted!!!!!
Any ideas how I can make life easier. Btw they're all healthy but all all wild. No handling. I work as crazy job.
Thanks

Re: Trouble with 3 robos
Well, you could switch them to tanks which would be easier to clean? Tubes and pods and fiddly bits are the annoying bits to clean I'm sure.
The other option is just to... clean them less..? I never do full clean outs until someone dies tbh, I'll spot clean and sometimes change like 1/4-1/3 of bedding but other than pee spots and wheels (also just because of pee) nothing ever really gets dirty. I don't want to clean things for no reason and they prefer everything smelling like them so everybody wins. You also don't mention how often you're putting yourself through this rigmarole but even on the strictest cleaning schedule (i.e. not lazy, as I am lazy) cages of hamster heaven size shouldn't need done more than once every month or two.

Re: Trouble with 3 robos
Yes was going to say an hours clean per hamster heaven does sound like a lot. Honestly with a robo in each you shouldn’t have to clean each one out any more than every 8 weeks, 6 weeks minimum. They really are clean animals and that is if you do regular spot cleaning. Helps if you find where the pee areas are as they often do just stick to one area.
Are you filling each cage up to the top? Basically up to the bars. If you are then you can do the infrequent clean outs. If you’re only using an inch or two then that might be why you’re cleaning out more. Using more bedding means you can go longer between cleans and allows them to burrow so make sure you’re doing that.

Re: Trouble with 3 robos
I only clean my robos hamster heaven about once a month. He has loads of bedding and loads of places to hide plus a water bowel and a water bottle.

Re: Trouble with 3 robos
Thanks for your replies very helpful. I'm cleaning them too much I think. I do them every week not always everything. They have so much stuff I can't fill them up too much or I won't fit all their toys and wheels in. This is a relief...thank you. I'll try and send a picture of their set up...it's a bit crazy! Thank you again...
