Question New hamster help!

Hello!
My name is Bea, and I’m an extremely new hamster owner. I just got Winny on Monday, she is a fancy bear hamster of unknown age. Since getting her a lot of my searches have directed me to this forum so I figured you guys can help me! Tonight while I was asleep, she knocked over her foodbowl. She lives in a tank with an expander on top, and she managed to push the bowl to the entrance and knock the food into the bottom half all over her bedding with the bowl covering the entrance. When I woke up and saw this I got up to fix the bowl and clean up the mess. She didn’t seem bothered by my cleaning but at one point she stopped to smell me so I moved the hand I was cleaning food with and gently put the other hand in and she bit me. I didn’t want to startle her more by continuing to clean so I left some pieces of food in the bedding. I know you aren’t supposed to bother them too much while they adjust to a new home, but how do I clean the food in this situation? My next thought is to do it in the day when she’s in her house but I don’t want to startle her when she’s asleep! Can anyone help? It would be so appreciated, and any beginner tips and tricks you might have!!

Heyo,
I would just leave the food where it is if you are worried about disturbing her, a lot of people scatter feed including myself, so i will just fill up a bowl of food and instead of putting it into the cage i will pour some into a few places around the cage so that my little ham has to go round and sniff it out which gives them a bit of enrichment

You could also do it while she's asleep as long as you don't disturb her nest. If i want to get into my hammys nest i always wait until the evening around 9pm he is usually willing to come out if i lure him with a little piece of broccoli

Just leave the food where it is, a lot of people scatter feed rather than use a bowl & hamsters just forage naturally for the food, it's a good form of enrichment for them so nothing to worry about!
