Advice needed!!!!
Hi i own a syrian and she is spoilt. I have a huge box of toys chews and hide outs etc that i switch around with every time i clean her cage to keep things interesting.
So i need some advice. I want a new hamster a dwarf. I am unsure if its okay to share her toys with the new hamster?

Re: Advice needed!!!!
You could only do that if you cleaned them thoroughly between each ham using them as hamsters wouldn't like to find another hamsters scent on their things plus you have to be very careful in case one ever got ill, in addition to that most syrian sized toys/hideouts etc wouldn't be suitable for a dwarf ham.

Re: Advice needed!!!!
Plastic toys that can be fully sanitised are ok, though I wouldn't share wooden toys or chews. I agree with Cypher that Syrian-size toys can also be too big for a dwarf.

Re: Advice needed!!!!
I agree, the toys might be too big for a dwarf hamster, but if they’re plastic they can easily be sanitised for another hamster.
Wooden toys I wouldn’t recommend sharing, especially with a new hammie as the smell of another hamster could scare them.

Re: Advice needed!!!!
I made the mistake (it was accidental, mind you) of sticking a wooden bridge in my dwarf hamsters cage that had previously been in my Syrian hamsters cage. Nugget tried eating the whole thing, and wouldn't stop chewing at it, and going for it. It wasn't in the cute playful way, either. She was really mad at that bridge.
My sister will sometimes change up the cages, which is how I made the mistake. Learned the hard way that you can't share the wooden toys, I had one angry little hammy.
