Just arrived !
I just came back from the pet shop with my new little friend. He's a make short haired with a color of light fan and white. The first thing he did was explore his new home. He was sniffing ever . When he found the food bowl he started eating. But now he must have gotten tired ,because he's now sleeping.I

Hamsters are nocturnal so he was probably just at good enough peace to go to bed.

Congrats on your ham! What is his name? That’s a great sign that he is exploring and eating right away, It normally means he it isn’t stressed! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask! Can’t wait to hear more about your ham, be sure to add pictures!

Thanks everyone for showing such interest in my new family member. Yes still sleeping now but when he is up, he's climbing all over the place. He seems to like being high in the cage. I'm thinking of getting a little platform and a tube or something for him. How does that sound ?

What kind of cage do you have? If he's climbing bars to get up high then a shelf or platform of some sort would be a good idea, also make sure he can't fall onto anything hard if he's climbing.

Deep substrate works well for hamsters. They love to burrow and it helps to cushion any falls.

He's sound asleep now in his house Funny ,once inside his house , he pushes up the substrate in front of the door , like he's saying I'm sleeping now so Do Not Disturb !
Tomorrow I'm going back to the pet shop for more toys.
I'll let you know what happens.
