Question New robo scratching inside cardboard tube.

I got a roborovski hamster two days ago and she is constantly scratching or trying to dig inside of a kitchen roll tube with no bedding in it. I have never had this happen before and am not sure if it is normal or if I should remove the tube? She is also sleeping in the same tube . Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

It’s quite normal lots of robos do this. Mine does exactly the same will randomly scratch in a tube she particularly likes. Maybe they’re trying to dig.
If she’s sleeping in the tube leave it as it is she might still be stressed from moving in. Give her a few days to settle down and see how she is. She’ll probably move into a house with bedding soon.

I wouldn't worry too much, does she have plenty of deep substrate to burrow in if she wants to & a nice sized house to use?
It can take them a while to make a proper nest but as long as she has what she needs just let her settle & do it all in her own time.

this is completely normal. my robo always "digs" wherever he is going to sleep, and will keep digging once he's reached the bottom. it's nothing to worry about. they're just anxious, and usually making a nest.

Maple robo likes to dig in the wooden house on her shelf!

She has a good 4 inches of fitch in the base of her cage, a wheel and loads of tunnels and still chooses to dig against the wall of the wooden house.

Nothing to worry about.

Here she is on her shelf. You can see the house just beside he. Her nest is in the deepest area of fitch under the shelf.

Thank you! Coincidently she has moved into her strawberry house to sleep in today which has carefresh inside so I think she has settled in better now.

Yes she has about 4 inches of aubiose in her bin cage and two hideaways with carefresh in and today she has slept in one of the houses. Thanks for your help it put my mind at rest. I have a 7 month old Russian but never had this issue 😂
