Emergency! Housing male and female together!
So I found a post on reddit where someone posted this cute video of their male and female dwarf hamsters playing together. The one is lying down not moving much and the other is on top looks like it might be grooming the upper part of the one lying down. Until one jerks suddenly.
Anyway I was like "heeey you aren't housing them together are you? You should only put them together for breeding" although I know nothing about breeding.
They replied saying not to worry because they don't bite or fight and they've been living together happily for 6 months.
I've replied saying that hamster pregnancy is only 20 days so they could end up with loads of hamsters really quick and chances are they are under lots of stress together and they'd be happier living apart.
I don't know I just don't feel knowledgeable enough to talk to them. Any other advice or anything I should tell them?

I suggest telling them they're risking their hamster's health (stress) and they could have been fighting when they aren't around- they seem okay right now, but because of stress from being together (most likely) they will fight at some point, and one may die.

Re: Emergency! Housing male and female together!
Yes I did say about stress and fighting and the likelihood of one of them killing the other. Sadly the person was insistent that the hamsters loved each other and that her hamsters must be different because she hadn't seen them fight and that. She said that if they did fight then she might consider separating them but that she'd be sad letting them live alone.
I tried insisting that they really really shouldn't be together and that they would probably be much happier alone and all of that but she didn't reply again so I'm guessing she will just ignore me
Edit:
I checked the users reddit and they psoted another photo of the two hamsters together. I have left another message (regrettably it's a little snappy but I just can't believe she isn't listening!).
