Default Well, it looks like a Hamster adopted us. Meet Harold/Hera

I posted last night about a Hamster running around our apartment. Turns out the neighbors moved out, so I guess we have a new Hamster. We went and bought what we could afford today and made him a little set up. Not sure if male or female, so once we figure it out it will either be Harold or Hera. Thanks for everyones help! I'm glad to hear that you are adopting the little one
He may need an upgrade in the future but for now he will do fine there. He is currently very tiny so enough space for now. Keep a watch on the wheel as babies can run themselves ragged so he may be better with limited time at first. A bit like a toddler who would go in the playzone much longer than good for them! As he grows watch his back does not bend when running. I might suggest removing the top shelf as well till he is a bit bigger in case he falls off that one as it would be a long way for a baby. Give him lots of attention and also lots of rest and plenty good food. I hope he does well for you

I'm glad that this darling little one found a way into your lives and hearts. I'm sure he will be so happy and loved by the both of you. He really is a very cute baby. I look forward to getting to know this little one, seeing more pics whenever he is settled in more, and hearing about all of the adventures that the three of you share together. Have fun with him/her. Best of luck.

Congrats on your little sooty puff Harold/Hera is definitely going to be one hell of a conversation starter in future!

I had a little look around for hamster cages for you which would be budget friendly when you guys are ready to upgrade, but hot damn, America is expensive!! If you guys are tight on budget you could build your own bin cage, and I know there's a Billy bookcase cage you can make too. I think I read on what of your posts that you have a cat so whatever you end up doing just make sure it's super secure!

Another potential option is an aquarium with a wire mesh lid. I think Petsmart, Petsco... Walmart..? One of the leading sort-of pets store sometimes have a gallon sale, so if you can wait it out you can pick up a 40 gallon for about $40-ish bucks. You'll have the space a hammie needs then, and also pretty cat proof too.
