Re: 30 days of June 2018
Thanks all! It's quite odd, and unfortunate that this has happened. I can't let myself get too down though, as this is just a part of life. I'm on iron supplements now, so hopefully we sort it out. Worst case scenario, a blood transfusion down the road could fix it (if it doesn't sort itself out). Enough of my issues though, I don't want to bore any of you :P
Today I will share the story of my rabbit! A little over a year ago, I adopted an animal who has become my best friend; my lovely rabbit, Willow. I never intended to adopt a rabbit, as I had been planning for a Chinchilla for many months. However, I realized the temperature of this house gets much too hot for a chin. I was sad, but decided it was for the best. The very next day, I was strolling through the local shelter (as I often donate treats and the like) and I saw the cutest little rabbit ever! It was love at first sight, and I knew she would come home with me. I spent the next few days researching like mad, bunny-proofing a room, and purchasing all the supplies I'd need. Later that week, I met my little love. She was so quiet and calm compared to all the other rabbits, melting into the floor happily whenever I'd pet her. I fed her a bit of celery, and decided that she was the one. She wasn't very trusting at first, shying away from me, panicking when picked up, and hiding. However, I gained her trust enough that she runs to me whenever I open the door to come in the room. She was quite neglected when she first came to my local SPCA, and had been in and out of the shelter system for most of her life. This made her cautious, and nervous. With time though, she's warmed up to people, and I'm quite happy that she has.

I hope that a transfusion won't be necessary, and your anemia sorts itself out with the iron supplements alone. Wishing you good health, Drago.
Great pic of your rabbit! Aww, Willow is such a cutie pie!!! I remember that you had briefly mentioned her in Duncan's thread, and I had always wondered what she looked like. For some reason, I had always pictured her as being brown like a willow stick or light grey similar to a pussy willow, lol. To my delightful surprise, she is an absolutely gorgeous snowball and couldn't possibly be any lovelier. It is truly sad that she had such a hard beginning. Thankfully, she has the best, loving home with you now and is thriving. I think it is so sweet and touching that she runs to you whenever you open the door to her room. She really is a sweetheart.
My favorite color has definitely always been purple; I love all shades of it, too.

Thank you for the kind words Dreamtree <3 your positivity is always appreciated on my end.
I’m shocked I’ve never shared a photo of her! I could’ve sworn I had. Well yes, she is a very big fluffball (weighing in at 12 lbs) and sheds like a dog! She is very soft though, so I don’t mind all the extra vacuuming
Purple is a nice choice!

Re: 30 days of June 2018
You may have posted a pic and I may have just missed it or maybe it was before I joined the forum. Regardless, I am glad to see you gorgeous Willow. She does look ultra soft; please give her a cuddle for me, too. She sounds like such an awesome rabbit. One of my family members had a beloved rabbit named Zippy, and I used to rabbit-sit for her whenever she would go on vacation; rabbits are such great pets.

I think my favourite colour has to be orange.

Re: 30 days of June 2018
Hello all! Hope you've all had a wonderful day
Today, I will be sharing some of the local nature in my area. I spend a lot of time outside, working, and volunteering so I'm lucky to see so many lovely creatures. As I live in the Southern region of the US, it's very hot and humid here- meaning some of the animals I see are very unusual compared to other parts of the country.

A copperhead. These are venomous so never touch them if you come across them. I held him down for my safety to take the photo. I also moved him off the trail using proper snake handling methods.

This is a small herd of deer I spotted just earlier this week. They seemed happy to share the trail with me

Sadly, I almost ran over this little guy while I was biking I stopped, and moved him to a nearby stream after taking this picture!
All these particular animals were seen whilst I was biking- which I do very often. I know I have workouts and targets to hit, but I just can't ride past such fascinating creatures
Today's QOTD: Have you ever been horseback riding?
I guess I myself should answer the questions lol! For day 1- my favorite food would be soup. For day 2- my favorite color is black. Today- I have been horseback riding several times. I usually go several times a year as I work as a stablehand

Re: 30 days of June 2018
It sounds like you had a lovely bike ride, Drago. I love seeing all of your nature friends; however, I have to admit that the copperhead snake would have given me quite a fright if I was there near it. They inhabit the region of the U.S. where I live as well, and I always keep a watchful eye out for these guys and the other poisonous snake breeds. I'm glad that you weren't bitten; you definitely sound well prepared in dealing with them.
Drago, do you have a particular preference in the kind of soup, or do you like them all equally? Black is such an elegant color especially in formal attire.
Yes, I have been horseback riding several times and used to spend several hours every weekend for years doing so. I truly love it! I wish that I still had an opportunity to do so, but I haven't ridden a horse in a couple years now. I really miss it and hope to do it again one day soon.

Thank you! I will admit, he gave me quite the fright when I first saw him. He was another critter I nearly ran over. I would’ve been heartbroken had I done that
I love pretty much any soup, but my favorite would be my father’s old recipe! It is a vegetable soup. It has veggie broth, tofu, carrots, onions, garlic, potatoes, beans, pasta, barley, and celery! It’s super good, and by far my favorite meal.
You should check if there are local stables that offer trail rides! Lest you live in a city, in which case, it may be difficult. I hope to try riding on the beach some time as I hear it’s lovely

Re: 30 days of June 2018
I am also glad that both critters weren't run over during your bike ride; that really would have been sad.
Wow, your father's soup sounds absolutely marvelous! No wonder it is your favorite meal. It not only sounds scrumptious, but the recipe was created by your father. That definitely is double in comfort.
Sadly, there aren't any stables anywhere remotely near me, but I still plan on horseback riding again one day. It has always been one of my dreams to go horseback riding on a beach one day, too. I also would love to visit picturesque Cumberland Island where you can see several feral horses roaming the beaches, as well as take in all of the other wildlife and natural beauty of the place. This is one of the items on my bucket list, lol.
