Default Help! Is this a hamster, mouse or rat?

I caught a little friend today. He bit me, but it just barely broke the skin, so im not too worried. However, im not sure what this is. Could this be a hamster? It has a very small tail, its face isnt as long as a mouse or rat. Im not sure, but it was in our apts floor vents. Which im sure connect to other apts. Maybe a lost pet? Its very tame, doesnt mind being held and immediately nested when I placed shredded toliet paper in its temp home. Attached files below. Thank you!

That does look to be a hamster you have there. A young syrian. I'd feed it and give some water. If you have nothing in stock pet food wise then use some plain musli or cereal and a dish of water and some plain loo roll as bedding till you can get some. You may want to put some posters round the area to see if anyone has lost it.
Are the eyes cloudy? In the pic the eyes look very cloudy and they should not be like that.

I dont think they are cloudy, however he or she did keep them closed a good portion of the time. We put water on a plate, gave him some lettuce which it loves and some cashews. I know nothing about Hamsters. So I appreciate any and all advice.

It also seems to have a very wet tail but could be from the Vents and moisture. Poor little one . Glad you found it and hope it can be rejoined to it's owner.

I think the tail is wet because I poured water onto the plate when he was sitting on it. He seems happy now, was very scared at first, but let my fiance hold him without struggle. Going to knock on some doors tomorrow.

It looks like a baby there. Supplement the food with babyfood and porridge plus bits of plain chicken, tofu, tiny veg (try these one at a time). Are you able to keep it? You could use a large storage box as a bin cage? Give it plenty tissue bedding to keep it warm. Is it toileting OK?
The eyes look OK there. It must have been a reflection. It could be very young and just opened the eyes. They are squinty for bit after they open them though sometimes the eyes are shut when they are poorly. If you think it is unwell then a vet check is needed. How large is the little one?

Oh, my! You do have a Syrian pup! He is SO cute. Poor little thing; I'm glad that you found him. Hopefully, the owner will be reunited with this little one. If not, I hope that you are able to give him/her a forever home. I will be praying that he/she will be able to thrive as this cutie is really very young. Good luck.

Checked on the little guy this morning. My fiance accidentally dropped him on the carpet last night, because it ran up her arm unexpectedly and fell off her shoulder. Seems to be fine though. We gave him a few cashews and lettuce because its all we had last night, he ate a good amount of lettuce and buried the nuts in his toliet paper bedding. All this sounding natural? Its 8 AM. Going to go over to the neighbors in an hour or two to see if they lost him.

If by chance they havent, how much would it cost to get him a little setup roughly? (in the US)
