Syrian Hamsters

Hello,
I currently have a dwarf winter white hamster and am thinking of getting another hamster (to have seperatley) as I love looking after and caring for my current hamster. As I have had many other rodents before I was thinking of getting a syrian hamster as I have never had one before.
I currently have my dwarf hamster in a Billy IKEA DIY cage, however as my hamster is getting old (he is around 1 1/2 - 2 years old) he is less active and sleeps a lot. I was thinking of getting the Alaska cage for a new hamster but wanted opinions on if I should give the dwarf hamster the alaska age and put the Syrian in the Billy cage??
As well as this I wondered if I needed anything different for a syrian thats different than a dwarf. I will obviously get a bigger wheel and house and new toys ect.
Any help on these questions would be really appreciated, thanks

Personally i believe you should not move your dwarf hamster out of the billy xl as we do not want it to get stressed. As for the wheel, just make sure it is at least 10 inch. I dont really want to mention it, but wjen your dwarf hammie walks over the rainbow bridge, your syrian could benefit from the billy xl

Thank you, I thought moving my dwarf wouldn't be the best idea but I wasn't too sure. As long as the Alaska cage is big enough then i'm happy for the new hammy to be in there

The Alaska Cage is a good size for a Syrian, just the house needs either to be removed or you can make the hole bigger by cutting the midde part.

I agree it would be best to leave your Russian where he is, it would be a little unfair to move him at his age if he's happy with his set up.
The Alaska is a fair size for a Syrian but a better option, just that bit more space is the Barney, that seems to be the most popular cage for Syrians.
