Arrow Feeding and Anxiety

Tonight is Luna's 4-5th day it was time for me to refill her bowl so I also added some tissue that I had rubbed over myself as a diy cardboard home.

She'd been up for a while and was playing on the bottom floor so I went in.
Her bin cage is tall on my desk so I have to use a step ladder to access the top floor, while I climbed up I called her name softly as I've been doing and open her cage bin slowly so that she wouldn't shy away. Surprisingly she was very open and was very curious though she stayed at the bottom floor.

I manage to get things done quickly and called her up by clicking a pumpkin seed on her tube. She came up the tube shortly and I laid my hand with the seed. She sniff me a bit, sometimes backing away, sometimes myself backing away.

Truth is, I suffer from an anxiety disorder and it kinda just jumps on me, so I began to fear her biting me and waited till she was uninterested in the treat and left the seed and removed my hand slowly.

I'm so happy that when I placed the cage lid back on she didnt run and hide but simply looked up as I constantly reassured her. I'm honestly a little scared of taming her because I'm afraid to be bitten but I'm wondering if its still to soon.

Just take your time with taming & try not to worry about being bitten, I know it can seem scary but if you do get nervous about it she will pick up on that & it will make her nervous too.
They do often nibble a little which doesn't hurt, it's just exploring & learning what's food & what's not so try not to react if she does that, just very slowly & gently move your hand away.

Try not to worry about it. That happens to me too, suddenly worrying that Ares or Hera will bite me. Taming a hamster can be a daunting task if you’re concerned that they’ll bite. It’s not too soon, probably the bare minimum as I managed to tame Hera just 9 days after I got her, she spent the first 8 days getting used to her new home. Then I placed a sunflower seed on my hand, allowed her to climb on, and that was it! You’re actually very lucky that your Luna won’t bite you as Ares and Hera are extremely territorial and they WILL bite if they’re aware of your hand in their cage, but I managed to tame them all the same. You can’t tame a hamster without being bitten at least once, so be prepared for it to happen to you. To avoid being bitten, wash your hands! Washing my hands worked wonders when I was taming Hera. It’s good that your hamster isn’t scared of you and is curious about what you’re doing rather than angry, terrified and prepared to bite as Ares was so many times when I was taming him. If you want to bond with Luna, be prepared for her to bite you, it’s inevitable. Since she isn’t really scared of you and will go up to your hand without biting you, there’s really no reason for you to be worried about a bite. She will at some point bite you though, just saying. You do want to tame her, but you’re scared she’ll bite you? Your fear isn’t totally irrational. As I said, she will bite you eventually, but if you do everything right, it’ll probably only happen once or twice. Good luck with Luna!

I'll try to control my anxiety with her, she doesn't seem to food motivated either but I haven't introduced her to treats just yet (though I'd like to give her a veg or a fruit to see if she'll take to it). Hopefully we can both learn to be relaxed around each other ^^;

I'm happy Ares and Hera where tamable in the end ; w ;!! And so fast too :0!! That amazing only 8 days?!
I don't think Luna's super territorial if not just very shy and nervous. I still believe she's scared of me or just really any sudden movements. I know now or never she will bite so I'll try to hold back the fear of it, I haven't been bitten by a small animal in a very long time so I'm scared I'll snatch my hand away. I've been bitten by my cat, by peoples dogs and everything still im scared of a little bite lmao.
Thanks so much for your help~!

I wouldn't give her fruit, Russian hams can be prone to diabetes so you should avoid fruit, treats with sugar or honey & any other sweet foods.
Veg are fine though.
I would begin trying treats for taming, they love mealworms & find them almost impossible to resist, other things to try are sunflower seeds (in the shell) pumpkin seeds, hemp & flax seeds, small pieces of nut (just a tiny bit!) are good too, mine love walnuts & pine nuts but most nuts are fine.
If you can find a millet spray (often sold for birds) she would probably love that too.
