There’s such a huge price range for the purifiers, I’ll wait and see how the smell goes. My mum is allergic to my rabbits so maybe a purifier would help with that. Bicarb sounds like a good alternative for the moment though.

She’s here, and she’s just a little bit crazy lol. She’s been running around investigating her new home, climbing all over the place and has even had an unplanned run around the living room!

I would add photos if I knew how

Your new little girl is beautiful it's so nice she's found a loving home. Have you named her yet? She looks very tame already.

Btw - like the cage, looks like the Savic Plaza! Wanted to say thank you about the discount code on the Plaza as we were able to get the discount. We ordered the cage last week from p@h. Annoyingly the cage arrived badly damaged , so currently we're waiting on a replacement.

Looking forward to hear all about your new family member and seeing your cage setup

We can’t agree on a name as yet, she is quite tame and has no problem being handled or coming out onto our hand. She is rather adventurous and can be very quick so we need to keep our wits about us when opening the cage! We are trying to leave her to settle but have had to fix a few things in the cage eg she has been digging around in the substrate and manged to jam the wheel.

It is the savic plaza I got on the end, what a shame yours was badly damaged. I did think the packaging was quite poor, one of the hooks that hold the ramp on was broken off on mine but luckily that was the only damage. I emailed p@h but no reply as yet. I’ve just used a wooden bridge instead of the ramp.

Made me smile about having to have your wits about you, as your new little girl is fast - especially with the big front door on the cage! She sounds like she is settling in well in her new home. Choosing a name takes time, we decided on our syrian boy Ralph after the film Wreak It Ralph! Sadly Ralph is no longer with us but he did live up to his name , boy did he like to chew (including carpet when he free roamed the hallway )

I agree about the packaging not up to much on the Savic. When we received the box it was already bashed up on one end. When opened up the packaging we found one of the hooks on the shelf was also broken on our cage, but more importantly they had snapped one of the connectors for the frame so couldn't even fit the cage together. Also the entire plastic cage was very badly scratched. Hopefully the replacement will be fine We called p@h customer service who we found were very helpful. Maybe you could call them if they,'ve not responded to your email soon. That's lucky you had a wooden ramp to be able to use.

Wow that was quick She is gorgeous! She will be very busy sorting out the cage just to her liking for the next few days. I had to move my wheel at one point as our Syrian insisted on digging a burrow and piling the Fitch up which blocked the wheel too. Each day I unblocked it and he got really cross and pushed it all back again - he got more and more fussy and cross with me about it and the only solution was to move the wheel further away! Then everyone was happy lol.

No you don't want any scents or air fresheners - very bad for hamsters breathing. I meant the hepa filters. They aren't cheap though. About £70 for a good one. A top of the range one costs about £300. It might help your Mum with rabbit allergy - some people have found they help a lot with allergy to dust mites etc, and they do remove odours (I think the carbon filter in them removes the odours and the hepa removes air particles down to a tiny size.

This one is popular - for allergies and removing odours and smells. But you may find no need. You don't want one with an ioniser - that's bad for you apparently!

Ralph sounds like an appropriate name for him then! My rabbits do a great job of chewing furniture etc so a hamster won’t make it much worse than it already is

Serendipity that’s exactly what she’s doing, digging down in the corner next to the wheel. Then she tries to run on the wheel and it won’t move! Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll save the link and see how it goes with the smell etc. I have to say though it doesn’t bother me too much that my mum doesn’t visit as often due to her allergy
