Smile Rescue

So after losing my pickles from old age I knew I wanted another hamster I need something to take care of! So after quickly glancing at rspca website I saw Boris a Syrian hamster who needed a home and I couldn’t resist!! ! I’m so happy I rescued him I don’t think he has ever had a wheel so he is currently loving life running a mini marathon. He’s about 1 they think but he has quite a baby face! I’m so happy I could give him a happy little life with loadsof treats! He is super friendly and is confident which is nice. I was going to wait and see if there was any at a hamster show for sale but as soon as I saw his picture it was like a sign I had to have him!! It seems almost right so soon after Pickles but it felt right.

That's lovely news, I'm sure he's going to be very happy with you

They all need a little time to settle & get used to a new home but if he seems confident & happy to interact I wouldn't worry about leaving him too much.

I think I'd give him overnight to get settled in. You can still talk to him and let him get used to you being around

He is a very funny boy! Because he is upstairs in his own room (second bedroom) it lovely and quiet in the day and boy did he look happy he was cuddled up fast asleep!! I made a giant playpen this evening and we had a cuddle then a play he’s doing well! He now has a normal giant wheel and a giant flying saucer and he goes from one to the other! Even had a piece of roast potato which he REALLY liked so hopefully next few days he will grow more confident short little burst sessions seem to work

Thank you! We are doing ok it’s I’ve managed to have daily little cuddles when I can get him off his nighty wheel run, he is still grooming an scenting so I’m tending to do little sessions each night he hasn’t drink water but I’ve privided him with carrot and cucumber which has gone and even though it not a week he has put on 3G so I’m pleased! I’m happy I can give him a nice life with a huge cage and fun toys (buying more this weekend) he still shy but even if a little cuddle helps him feel loved I’m happy to help he grooms in his playpen and in his cage and when I’m around stretches is this a good sign or bad?
