Cage cleaning advice please - not sure what to do
Hi everyone, just after a little advice please, Noodles cage seems a bit smelly so I could do with spot cleaning it, I watched the Erin videos yesterday and she was saying wait until they have moved into a new nest...thing is Noodles hasn't moved into a new nest so.....do I disturb him and check his nest now - I am worried some food is going off as he has had fresh meat & veggies and I am concerned it will make him poorly. If I do clean that bit would you do it in the daytime so he will go back to sleep in there or do you think anything I do will unsettle him far too much.
We have moved his cage downstairs to get more used to us all as well I just don't want to stress him out too much so need some advice!

Most hams don't build a new nest so you do need to check it out if it's getting a bit smelly.
I wouldn't wake him during the day to do it, wait until he wakes up at his normal time, put him somewhere safe like a carrier with some substrate to snuggle down into & then just check to see what's there, remove any old veg or food that can go off, any wet nest material but leave as much of the nest that's dry as you can so you don't remove too much of his scent.
If the rest of the cage is ok leave that until another time.
