dreamtree1234 Hahaha! I hear you! I hope you'd be able enjoy them too one day! Hopefully sooner than you think. Haha yes she is! I couldn't agree more, sometimes I can't help but wonder, what was it that brought us together? So many people in this world, so many little hamsters, and yet Gaby and I found each other. It is an honor indeed to have found her!
Hahah that she is BorisPasha!
No pictures in today's post either, but I'll try to put one up on Sunday. I think these two posts might be my last updates on the thread for a while, or at least until I'm back in town. Tuesday was the last night Gaby spent in my apartment. I have now shifted her to my friend's apartment who will look after Gaby when I'm gone. As a part of my friend's preparations to look after Gaby, I wrote a 5 page long document, detailing all the routines and rituals of Gaby, how she has to be fed, what and when she has to be fed, when she goes out of the cage and so on. I bet I could have written a book on that! Another friend on hearing this burst out laughing and said "Of course! I'm not one bit surprised!" I think I'm overly picky about Gaby getting the best of everything.
Anyhoo, handed the document, gave an hour long presentation of everything to be done and how to be done. And then it was time to move her cage. I temporarily moved Gaby to her Mini Duna so that I could remove all the substrate out of the Detolf before carrying it (pretty sure the glass floor of the detolf wouldn't have remained in one piece when filled with over 10kg of wood shavings). Gaby was furious that I put her into the Duna again. Boy, she hates that cage and she hates it with a passion! She went absolutely crazy inside it! From chewing frantically on the clasps, to trying to jump off things and even tearing things down! Must have been the most horrendous 15 minutes for my poor girl. I did keep picking her up every 5 minutes or so to calm her down. The moment I open the cage, she practically jumps onto my palm, and just stays with me. All she wanted was cuddles and not to be put back into that tiny cage. It crushed me a bit every time I had to put her back there, but it was the only way.
15 minutes later, the cage was transported to it's new home, substrate filled back, toys restored. The nests were left in it's original place while transporting (of course). And then I took Gaby out of her cage, she cuddled a little more, and then we walked over to my friend's apartment, with Gaby in my hands. Like I've said in a previous post, when Gaby understands I'm walking, she doesn't move at all. She just calmly waits on my palm until I stop moving. I mean to say, I can have Gaby sitting on my palm held out flat, wide open and I know for a fact she won't take a step or so much as twitch until I'm settled down somewhere. So when we got there, she climbs onto my shoulder and waits there, watching me as I finished up her cage. Gaby approves of this.
Into the cage she went, the new smells and new sounds. She first does her usual inspection to see that everything is in the right place, first her nests, then the sand bath, the corner toilet and wheels. But she's getting along fine. For the first week, only I will be interacting with Gaby. This way she, hopefully, feels more comforted knowing I'm there for her even though everything else seems different, smells different and sounds different. But fast forward a week, and I won't be seeing my lovely girl for a month, and will be cared for by my friend. I'm sure they will get along well! But I'm going to miss her. I'm going to miss little Gaby for a month.
On second thought, I figured I might as well post some of older pictures of Gaby.

I totally understand your having a "book" of instructions to give to your friend who is ham-sitting Gaby while you are away; I am the exact same way, lol. It just shows how loving and attentive you are concerning having all of your precious ham-baby's needs and wants being met.
I'm sure Gaby will be well cared for by your friend and she will miss you. I know you will miss her so much, too. Maybe your friend will be able to video or take pics of your little fur baby while you are away so you will have those to view and treasure when you are back together again. That way, you can actually see all the amazing things that she was up to while you were away and it will make your time apart easier. I know that Gaby will have infinite cuddles and whisker kisses and even more cuddles to give to you when you return from your adventure.
Those pics are all so cute. I especially love the touching, cuddle one. She looks extra fluffy and sweet all cuddled in the palm of your hand. It brought smiles to my face.
Be safe, have a great time on your trip, and enjoy all of the stunning sights for all of us here. I will be looking forward to seeing your entertaining posts and gorgeous videos and pics when you have a chance after you return home. Take care and best wishes to you and Gaby.

Thank you dreamtree1234! Indeed, cuddles and whisker kisses will be by the infinites when we get back together! Yes, I suppose that might be possible, although I wonder how often I might actually get a cellphone reception.
I planned a photoshoot with Gaby for this post, but oh well, we were playing yesterday and I ended taking videos of Gaby instead. So here is a short video of the two of us playing with each other. She was quite adventurous yesterday too, and tried clambering onto my hands in ways she usually wouldn't. I'll be honest, I didn't it coming, and almost freaked out a tiny bit (you'll know when, it's sort of obvious in the video ). My cheeky little darling, Gaby.
Take care Ham-moms, ham-dads, hammies and ham-fams, and have loads of fun!! We'll be back, with more pictures and videos of our many adventures together before you know it!

So I finally have brief access to the Internet again, yay! And so I was checking in with my friend on Gaby. My friend said that Gaby is now comfortable with her, even eats treats offered to her. She also sometimes climbs up onto her during her out of cage time. But she said that Gaby also seems to miss me. Everytime my friend walks into her apartment, Gaby pauses, stands up on two feet, waiting to hear my voice or my hand like she always does, but seems a sad or doesn't go hyper like she does when she hears me. I miss my Gaby too.
No doubt it has been an amazing hike so far, but the other day, I met another hiker whom I hiked with for two days before parting ways. So in our many random talks, I remember telling her, if there is one thing I really miss about being back in the city, in Gothenburg right now, it's Gaby. After her, it's only this raw unfiltered nature. Nothing else matters.
Here's Gaby taking a treat from my friend. Gaby.jpg
In the meantime, my hike has been going pretty good. Beautiful weather and landscapes. I'll share more about it on a future post. But for now, here's a really cool photo I took at 12.03 AM. 20180703_000141-800x600.jpg

She is Serendipity7000! And I miss her loads already. :/ We tried to get into a call with Gaby, but on all times we tried, she was asleep and didn't wake up then. I will have to try again next week when I will have cellular reception again.
Yes! That it is. Especially hiking at midnight is an experience of itself.
