My sister chose Stitch’s name after her favourite Disney character. Meat was named after my favourite singer Meat Loaf.
Metallica was originally meant to be the name of a hamster but when my earlier ideas for a prefix turned out to be unsuitable, I decided to use Metallica. I’m not sure if it was the best choice but it’s the name we’re known by now.

Re: Photo Month Thread - March 2018
Today I thought I'd make a start on introducing my hamily... Metallica Hamstery is currently home to eight Normal Chinese, one husky Roborovski and two Guinea Pigs. The oldest resident is Vectis's Lord James, Earl of Metallica.
James is two years and seven months old and came to live with Metallica Hamstery on 31st October 2015. This is a photo that Vectis sent me the day I brought him home.

James was the first hamster at Metallica Hamstery to be shown in the main part of the show. He won Metallica's first Best in Show in July 2016.

James retired from showing in May 2017 and I focused on my plans to breed him. By the time he retired, he'd already been paired to Victoria but she was resistant to his charms. His second wife Luna became pregnant but died about a week after giving birth. James went on to be paired to Maanantai, who came here on loan but the pairing was unsucessful and later on to Cora Josephine who delivered seven healthy pups in November. With a secure heir, James is now able to enjoy a full retirement.

How time flies. I remember Lord James coming home to you Fluffagrams and now he is the grand old man of the hamstery. Love him peeping out of his big cup, handsome man. Glad he is enjoying retirement now his breeding line is secure.

Re: Photo Month Thread - March 2018
Today is the turn of Victoria who is the second oldest hamster in the hamstery. Lilliput's Miss Lilli-Victoria will celebrate her second birthday next month and she came to live at Metallica Hamstery on 11th June 2016 as the betrothed of Lord James.

Due to the sized difference between Victoria and James, she was paired to CW StJ Nobby Nobbs who came here on a breeding holiday from Vectis and produced Metallica's first litter 'The Nobrias'. As I mentioned in James's post, her and James were paired but Victoria felt that her child-rearing days were over. I retired her from breeding and she could concentrate on her show career.

Victoria was a reliable show hamster, usually placing but never quite making it to the top of the table. Unfortunately a skin split in September forced a retirement from the show team for this beautiful girl.
Victoria, in particular is a master of the 'Chinesey Cling' and her trademark pose is what I call the 'Nice Foot' where she waves her back paw at you whilst in the Chinesey Cling.

And just because I like this photo, here's an extra one of the lovely lady...

I love the picture of James that Vectis sent you on the day you brought him home, though he always looks so handsome in all his pictures
Victoria is adorable too with her Chinesey cling and nice foot

Re: Photo Month Thread - March 2018
Today is the turn of Victoria's darling son, one of the first hamsters to be born at Metallica Hamstery. Matthew C. Nobria, Viscount Metallica was born on 8th October 2016. His mother diligently kept him and his five siblings a surprise until they were nearly two weeks old. Formerly known as Nobrias 6, I decided that Matthew was definitely the one that I wanted to keep just two days before I rehomed his siblings and he was given his official name.

Matthew grew well and joined the show team in February 2017 and by his third show he won Metallica Hamstery's first home-bred COM. He later took on the position of Show Team Lead in May 2017 when Lord James retired. He won his second COM at Emley in August 2017.

Matthew has had to sit a couple of shows out due to the skin splits that have ended his mother's show career and I don't know as yet what Matthew's future will hold as a show hamster.
Matthew himself is a cheeky little chap, generally good natured and very loving. He loves his playtimes, his wheel and his favourite train toy. Here he is feeling particularly cuddly.

Trivia: The 'C' in Matthew's name stands for Crawley and Matthew Crawley was a character in the TV series 'Downton Abbey'.
